Fmoc-PNA monomers
PNAs can be synthesized from the corresponding Fmoc-protected peptide nucleic acid monomers manually on solid phase or automated on peptide synthesizers using standard Fmoc chemistry. In continuous automated Fmoc-based solid phase synthesis of PNA-peptide oligomers, Fmoc/Bhoc-protected PNA monomers are preferred, since this allows for acid-catalyzed deprotection of all protecting groups plus simultaneous cleavage from the resin.
It is therefore not surprising, that our Fmoc/Bhoc-PNA monomers are a top seller at ASM with guaranteed high purity and solubility for all our monomers.
However, due to the somewhat reduced solubility of the Fmoc/Bhoc-protected PNA monomers, especially the Fmoc-PNA-G(Bhoc)-OH and the Fmoc-PNA-C(Bhoc)-OH which tend to precipitate when stored in solution, as an experienced PNA manufacturer, ASM also offers the corresponding Fmoc/Boc-protected PNA monomers on request.
